純銀Sterling Silver
Sterling Silver
925 sterling silver refers to an alloy containing 92.5% pure silver, with the remaining 7.5% made up of other metals. Pure silver at 99.9% is too soft to maintain shape, making 925 silver the ideal balance for jewellery making and the internationally recognised standard for silver accessories.
Silver has a warm and gentle tone. Among precious metals, it is widely used and more accessible in price. With excellent ductility, it is easy to shape while still retaining a refined appearance. It is also considered a low-allergen material, suitable for most individuals with sensitive skin, making it one of the most commonly used materials in jewellery.
However, silver is more prone to oxidation compared to metals such as gold. Combined with cultural preferences, gold remains the more popular choice for wedding rings due to its resistance to colour change. With proper care, silver jewellery can easily restore its original shine.
Care Instructions
.Water-friendly and can be worn during showering
.Dry thoroughly after contact with water to prevent oxidation
.Avoid contact with seawater, hot springs, perfume, bleach, and other chemical substances to prevent corrosion
Silver Oxidation
When silver comes into contact with sulfur compounds, a layer of silver sulfide forms on the surface. This thin black compound gradually wears with use, creating a natural aged or patina effect.
Unlike electroplating, the oxidised finishing is not a permanent color result.
Silver naturally oxidizes over time, turning darker with prolonged use. The oxidised effect is achieved through a dyeing process that instantly blackens the silver, but the depth of the oxidised black color will continue to change based on the wearing conditions. If you wish to maintain the darkened effect, you can purchase a blackening solution to periodically re-dye the silver at home.
