ENSEMBLE BRASSWARE

"Gongs" are crafted from flat pieces of brass that undergo thousands of hammer forging by skilled bronze workers, resulting in sound-producing tools commonly found in Chinese temples and traditional festival parades. Nowadays where local blacksmithing craftsmanship is on the decline, Chan Po Fung holds the belief that sound, as a medium, possesses the ability to transport the audience to the bygone days and inspire them to envision the lives of their ancestors.

This artwork draws inspiration from the principles of a music box. Participants are invited to create their own rhythms on the device, fostering a harmonious yet distinct ensemble by utilising a combination of copper and metal objects.
